Workshop in Cuiabá offers more information to meatpackers about the Audit Protocol
Updated information, dialogue between meatpackers and changes to the document defined the training workshop of the Audit Protocol for Livestock Commitments in the Amazon, held on Tuesday (23/11) at the Deville Prime Hotelin Cuiabá (Mato Grosso state).
"The training was productive. This was my first time here and I had a very interesting exchange of experiences", said Dionathan Marques dos Santos from Frialto. "I was worried at first when the training started, but in fact many of the points covered are already being put into practice with the help of the protocol. What I hope will happen is for some of the points discussed to be adapted so they don’t hinder us during our next purchases with the audit in mind", he added.
Geize de Medeiros from ECO2, which represented producer Henrique Prata, also pointed out the importance of the event for the creation of new guidelines by the organising institutions. "The workshop enabled the meatpackers to gain more information and participate in debates and exchanges. We were able to bring our demands to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and to Imaflora, so they can see the reality of what is going on and improve the tools taking into consideration the difficulties that emerge in practice", she pointed out.
The event organized by Imaflora's Beef on Track Program, in partnership with the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF), was attended by 24 participants from Minerva Foods, Carnes Boi Branco, Frigo Estrela, Frigorífico Pantanal, Frigorífico Frigosul, Frialto, Frigolíder Colider, Marfrig Global Foods, JBS/Friboi, as well as representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Imac, NWF, UFMT and ECO2.
The next training workshop for meatpackers will take place on 1 December, in Rio Branco (Acre state). For more information: https://www.boinalinha.org/post/workshop-de-capacitacao-dos-frigorificos-em-rio-branco-ac
